CS & IT Symposium 2010: Educational programs for middle school students

Computer Science Teachers Association, the Computer and Information Technology Symposium July 13, 2010 The teaching of programming for the Middle school students basic Scratch Presented by Craig Whitmore and we are only talking about middle school computer programming course freeware (Chipmunk Scratch and BASIC) used to expose students to computer programming. In this course, students create their own text-adventure in Chipmunk BASIC and their own video games in Scratch.The study is described in detail, and student work is displayed. Handouts include a semester long course of study, teaching worksheets, samples of student work and the area of origin. Topics in the course include programming logic and concepts (variable input and manipulation, conditional statements, logical development, debugging, random number generation), the basic game design and easy object-oriented programming, as well as several ancillary topics (Choose your adventureKind of book, Zork text adventure and ASCII art).
